Creative Block

Producer, Co-Host | September 2021 to April 2023

After wrapping up a two-year run as the host and producer of Against the Algorithm, I was invited to join
Creative Block as producer by then co-host Gene Goldstein, who first discovered my work after his band QBomb appeared twice on Against the Algorithm.

In this role, I streamlined production by implementing a standardized workflow, including the creation of a comprehensive production sheet. I also managed the podcast’s social media presence, developed strategies for engaging the animation community, and led communications during Goldstein’s departure in January 2023.

Alongside production duties, I co-hosted and produced Music Box, a spin-off mini-series spotlighting musicians and their creative journeys.

I stepped down as producer in 2023. Since then, the show has continued to grow its reach and community.

— Violaine "Vee" Briat (Host and co-creator)
During my time as co-host of Creative Block, an animation industry podcast, I desperately needed to find support to help my team be organized, stay on schedule, and maintain a social media presence. We brought on Malik, and he came through with flying colors. He quickly embedded himself as a crucial member of the team and made running the show so much easier. His unique humor and charisma was always on display in our social media communications and I never had to worry about maintaining a strong social media presence. On top of that, he did a fantastic job of reaching out to guests, organizing recording sessions and keeping things on rails. I would gladly work with him again in a heartbeat and think anyone that hires him is lucky to have him!
